Mech-Q Structural
Mech-Q Structural Walkthrough
If you’re setting up steel shapes or structural drawings in Mech-Q, it’s pretty straightforward. You can choose shapes like beams, channels, angles, and more just by clicking a thumbnail. Each shape shows you full dimensional info before you insert it. You can draw in either 2D or 3D depending on what your project needs.
Once you pick your shape, you have control over the size, spec, and where it inserts — top, middle, or bottom. Mech-Q also lets you rotate the beam or roll it on its side if needed. You can add adjoining beams easily, and if two beams connect, the cope feature lets you trim them together cleanly. Plus, your Bill of Materials (BOM) setup is right there when you’re ready.
Inside the Structural utilities, there’s even more. You’ll find tools for stairs, handrails, bracing frames, Purlin and Girt layouts, and beam-to-column connections. There’s even a welding symbol tool ready to use. Once you get familiar with the basics, Mech-Q Structural really speeds up steel detailing work.
